Sherlock ep 1

aron_kristinaSome quick thoughts, hopefully I'll have time to write some meta-ish stuff tomorrow.
1. This episode felt fractured and sort of chaotic. It was like they didn't quite know where they were going. Admittedly, this might have been due to my state of mind, and the fact that I watched it with my parents who kept falling asleep and then waking up disoriented, but still. I'll see how it holds up to a second viewing.
2. This really pisses me off: Irene Adler is not a villain! In fact, one of the points in Scandal is that Holmes admires her because he finds her more moral than his actual client, and in the end he wants her to have the pictures. I dislike the Irene Adler as a villain plot thingie a lot! Also, she's an opera singer, not a Dominatrix!
3. I think she's wrong about John, I don't think he wants to sleep with Sherlock. Yes, they have a relationship, but monogamous, sexual relationships are not the only ones available, you know.
4. On an aesthetic note, I would have liked Irene with a bit more flesh on her bones.
